There is a very good reason that Hawaii is almost always the number one destination people think of when they think of romantic vacations.  It is a beautiful, romantic destination, and the islands offer something for everyone. 

Each island has beautiful hotels that would be perfect for a romantic vacation. No matter which island or islands you visit, you can do some amazing and romantic things. Walking along the beach at night under the stars is something you don’t want to miss. The clear skies create a wonderful romantic atmosphere. The ocean is great for swimming or snorkelling, with beautiful blue waters and amazing tropical fish. Make sure to get away from the resorts and ocean for a little while as there are many places to go biking and hiking for spectacular views of the island forests, waterfalls and mountains. You can get an even more incredible view of Hawaii from above with a short helicopter ride. Once you're done seeing the island be sure to be part of a real traditional Hawaiian Luau.

Here are the islands that you can visit, and a few great things you can do on each one.

Oahu – Oahu is the home to Honolulu and the city nightlife. There are many clubs, restaurants, art galleries and attractions to keep you busy. The Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium offer a nice collection of land and sea life. History buffs can see the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor honoring the Americans who died in the invasion during World War II. For fun in the sun, the beaches are beautiful and you can even take surfing lessons at Waikiki beach and for the truly adventurous, hikers who don't mind getting up a little early will find a spectacular view at the top of Diamond Head Crater to watch the sunrise.

Maui – If you want to see beautiful waterfalls, this is the perfect island.  You can go on the "Road to Hana", which is a 56-mile drive where you can see many amazing views, waterfalls, and more.   If you’re in Maui between November and April, you can view the humpback whales on whale watching excursions.

Kauai – Kauai is known for its greenery, and beautiful beaches.  You can visit Waimea Canyon, which some say is even more colorful than the Grand Canyon.  There are plenty of hikes to go on, where you will see some beautiful flora and fauna on your trips.   For anyone interested in golf, there are some world-class golf courses in Kauai. 

Big Island – This is the only Hawaiian island that is still growing.  You can go to the eastern side of the island to see Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano.  Depending on the day, you may even get to see lava flowing.  One of the most romantic and amazing things you can do is go to the summit of Mauna Kea at night, and see the stars.  Because of the lack of light pollution, you can see hundreds of stars at night even without a telescope.  There are plenty of tours that will take you to the top to see the stars, and bring a telescope to show you specific stars.  Depending on the night, you might be able to see the International Space Station go by without even using a telescope!  This is another island where there are many golf courses that you can choose from.

Lanai – This is the island to visit if you want to get away from it all. There is not a single traffic light on the island, and you won’t find crowds here. On Lanai, there are two luxury resorts, another hotel,a handful of bed and breakfasts, and two golf courses. You can use a four-wheel drive vehicle to see the entire island, or hike up the mountains for great views of the other Hawaiian Islands. If you don't want to spend your entire trip here, you can go here for the day from another island.

Molokai – Molokai is a great island for hiking, biking, and enjoying nature.  You can visit the beautiful botanical gardens or the coffee plantation.  This is also another great island to go snorkeling or whale watching.  This is one of the lesser-traveled islands, so there will be a lot less people here.

As you can see, there are many romantic and fun things to do in Hawaii for your vacation.  No matter what your interests are, you will find something to help you have an amazing trip.
