Los Angeles is filled with some of the world's best looking people so is it any wonder people like to come here to meet up? For many singles hoping to meet new friends, it's really just a matter of finding the right place and the right party and occasion, and there's plenty of that in L.A. When there's thousands of structures to cater to every need and want, there is no way you'll run out of reasons to stay and things to do.
Why you should go there
Los Angeles is a bustling, busy, flashy city but without the glare you'll find in Vegas. Her shine is something of her own making. The star capital of the world is home to many of the nation’s rich and famous and it's also a place to party and have fun. If you don’t mind the crowds, L.A. is your playground.
In search for sea and sun
You're in L.A. and the sunshine artists and poets spoke about is right here, now. Why not go out there and get some for yourself. Start your journey at Santa Monica where you'll find the world-famous pier. This is where many of the seaside scenes you've seen on TV and in films were shot. Or check out Marina del Rey while on a bike or if you go to L.A. in summer, watch a few of the free concerts held here.
Want more beaches? There's Redondo, Malibu, Cabrillo and Venice. Malibu is a great beach to watch and meet surfers or learn a few tricks, while Venice is a beach with an entertainment package of its own. There are performance artists here, along with the ubiquitous mimes and jugglers and the never-ending parade of skateboarders who show off their skills for free.
Check out the rides on the Pacific amusement park. There's an earth-friendly Ferris wheel here, the only one in the world that runs solely on solar power. Want to get out on the water? Join a sailing club for singles and meet up with some seaworthy buddies and newfound friends.
And what's a trip to L.A. if you're not going to strip down to your bathing suits and hit the waves? Swim, bask in the sun or learn the language of surfing. Better yet, get yourself a board, ask a local to teach you and get friendly with the waves. The beaches in L.A. are quite famous thanks to surfing, which single-handedly pushed these sands to legendary status.
Seeing stars
L.A. is where the biggest film studios rule and where the Hollywood sign lords it over the hills. This is a place where dreams come true so even if you're looking to meet the pretty locals or make friends with new arrivals, why not veer off your chosen path for a while and check out the names of the stars who have made it big in the Walk of Fame sidewalk. You can also see for yourself their handprints and shoe sizes at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Partying
When it comes to partying, L.A. is certainly a top contender for being the location with the best bars and clubs and the host with the most to offer. There are plenty of clubs to check out here, and whatever your personal taste and budget are, there is one that will be the perfect hang out for you.
Check out the latest parties online or snag tickets to the hottest events. While many of the clubs play recorded music, there's live musical performance here a-plenty. From pop to jazz to classical to rock, you'll find your satisfaction here. And don’t worry about coming by your lonesome. The singles scene is alive and well in L.A. and it's an accepted reason for going out. It's an industry onto itself; so don’t worry that you might stick out like a sore thumb. Individuality is a quality much admired in this city
Back to nature
L.A. is not just about synthetic stuff. There are plenty of natural wonders to go around. You can check out the famous Griffith Park, an all-in-one entertainment area for sports, nature treks or just plain friendly picnics. You'll find the Griffith Observatory here, along with the Gene Autry museum and the Los Angeles Zoo. There are also 3 golf courses you can play in and a driving range.
Amusement parks
If you enjoy amusement parks, there are many that are just a short drive away. There is of course Disneyland, as well as Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Magic Mountain. You can have an amazing time visiting one or more of the above.
Much of the attraction that draws people to L.A. is its star quality but really, it is so much more than the product of its parts. Is it any wonder people come here, love it and decide to stay?
