Visiting Italy: The Place for Hopeless Romantics
Of all the places in the world, there is no other spot that quite evokes ideas of romance and love like Italy does. Countless heart-warming movies have been set in Italy and have become classics in their own right. But despite the apparent hype, it's actually a fact that, culturally, Italy is filled with more hopeless romantics than any other place on Earth. If you want to treat your special someone to a vacation he or she will never forget, Italy is one spot you won't want to miss out on.
The sights alone in Italy are awe inspiring and widely varied, ranging from famous historic monuments to beaches that have some of the most gorgeous sunsets and star-filled nights you can imagine. Even many of the historical attractions and ruins can be romantic, and you can have an amazing time being together looking at the Italy of the past. Whether you are in Rome, visiting the Colosseum at sunset, throwing a coin into the Trevi fountain to ensure your return trip, or are walking along the water in Venice, or even walking through the piazzas in Florence, you can easily mix romance with all of the amazing sights to see in Italy.
Hotels in Italy are very prepared to deal with vacationing couples. The average hotel in Italy will often have suites designed with lovers in mind, and will often have spas and saunas where you can spoil your love shamelessly. There are even hotels that are set along the lines of being "romantic getaways", and if you can book a suite in one of these you and your loved one will be guaranteed a great time!
The accommodations in these hotels vary from spot to spot, some offering their own private yacht rentals, others with pleasure gardens where you can take a stroll, and yet still others with decor set along romantic themes. By and large, these hotels mostly have terraced rooms for perfect candle lit dinners under starlight, and fantastic views of a beach or mountainside, depending on location. With all the variety, it's easy enough to find one that will suit the mood you want to set on your little getaway.
There are plenty of things to do while down in Italy, and one of the coziest activities is to take your love on a leisurely gondola ride through the water canals in Venice. This often comes complete with a minstrel on the boat singing a serenade to set the mood. Or if your better half enjoys shopping, there are plenty of stalls and boutiques where you can go bargain hunting and looking for almost anything. Flower stalls are all over the place for those spontaneous expressions of love, and there are special shops you can find if you scour around and want to get something extra special like a jeweled brooch, gold hair clasp, or other beautiful Italian goods.
Naturally, eating and drinking goes hand in hand with shopping, and the restaurants and cafes in Italy are as world renowned as their food and wines are. Almost everyone loves Italian food, and the restaurants and cafes often have their own bands playing soft music at night. Naturally, the tables are normally only lit by candles and moonlight in the evenings, setting a perfect background to warm both yours and your loved ones heart.
As the evening wears on, there are plenty of public parks where you can take a casual stroll, and punctuating these parks and walkways are cafes that specialize in coffee and pastries. If you and your loved one are coffee lovers or pack a sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with stopping by these cafes for a break. If you're a coffee connoisseur, you'll know exactly what I mean when I say Italian coffee blends rank among the world's smoothest.
Lastly, speaking of having a sweet tooth, Italy is also renowned for it's chocolates. The many different blends of chocolate that you can find down there are often enough to send chocoholics into ecstatic fits. This also makes for very nice little gifts you can use to bring home to family and friends. It doesn't just stop at chocolate bars either; there are chocolate products molded into various shapes, like hearts (naturally), doves, little bunny rabbits, and more.
In a nutshell, almost all the hallmarks of the "hopeless romantic" can be found somewhere in Italy, ranging from flowers, chocolate, fine wines, excellent food, jewelry, beautiful sights, and soft music, to whatever else you can think of. If you want a vacation designed especially for romance, relaxation, and fun, then Italy should be on your itinerary.
