The Islands of the Bahamas are a collection of over 700 islands, many of which are uninhabited.  They are a great place to spend a romantic vacation, since you can get the exact type of vacation you want here.  If you are looking for an island that is very small, with few people on it, and nothing to do but relax on the beach, you'll find it here.  If you're looking for great beaches, and great nightlife, you'll find that here as well.

When thinking of the Bahamas, most likely you are thinking of one of the two most populated islands, Nassau and Grand Bahama Island.  There are plenty of hotels and resorts on other islands, but they are much smaller and have less to do on them.

The capital city of the Bahamas is Nassau.  It is normally paired with Paradise Island since they are so close and you can drive over a bridge from one to the other.  They both have many things to do, and can keep you happy on your vacation.

Because of the islands' location in the Caribbean, snorkeling and scuba diving here are great, and you will see a lot of reefs, tropical fish, and even some historical wrecks.  If you're interested in botanical gardens, you can visit either the Ardasra Gardens & Conservation Center, or "The Retreat". 

There are many hotels to stay on at these two islands, with the most popular being Atlantis.  They have a casino, a lot of pools and other water rides, and sports.  They have gorgeous aquariums, an interesting tour, and many great restaurants.  Even if you don't stay there, it is worth stopping by as it is a beautiful resort with a lot to see.

There is also a lot of shopping nearby, so you can easily walk up and down some of the streets looking at the nice shops.  If you're looking for nightlife, this is a great place to go.  There are a few casinos on Nassau/Paradise Island.  One is at the Atlantis Resort, and another is at the Wyndham, called the Crystal Palace Casino.  There are also plenty of restaurants and bars to visit.

If you are looking for some different things to do on Nassau, you can visit the Bacardi Distillery, Fort Charlotte, or go on a walking tour of Nassau.

Grand Bahama Island is the 4th largest of the islands.  There are many places to go snorkeling and diving here as well, and lots of beautiful beaches to visit.  There are two types of beaches here; Those that are for activities with games, snorkeling, jet skiing, and more, and those that are more for relaxing and swimming in the ocean.

There is also a lot of shopping here as well.  You can go to the International Bazaar, which has many little shops where you can purchase locally made crafts, perfume, gemstones, and more.  In Lucaya, there is the Port Lucaya Marketplace, which also has many little shops where you can purchase locally made crafts and more.  There are many restaurants to enjoy here as well, and you can even find many places to experience an up close encounter with a dolphin.

If you are interested in nightlife, there is also a lot of nightlife here as well.  There are many bars, nightclubs, casinos, and more.

Some other islands to consider, all which are beautiful and can be very romantic, include The Abacos Islands, Andros, The Bimini Islands, Cat Island, Long Island, and many more.
