If you love theme parks, then when you think of Charlotte, North Carolina, you are probably thinking about Carowinds, which is both a theme park and a water park.  Besides that though, there are many other things to keep you and your family busy if you come to visit.

First let’s talk about Carowinds.  There is a lot to do here, and you could easily spend a lot of time having fun.  There are many thrill rides, family rides, kids rides, and more.  If you like Nickelodeon, there are also many rides with Nickelodeon characters, such as Dora the Explorer and Fairly Oddparents.  There is also a Dora the Explorer sing-along show that kids will enjoy.

Boomarang Bay is the water park section of Carowinds.  They have 20-acres of water fun, including slides, rivers, rafts, and even a new 25,000 square foot wave pool.  There is also a section of water rides just for kids.  If you’re looking to get wet, you really have your choice of ways to do so!!

Once you’ve had your fun at Carowinds, you’ll be looking for other things to do on your trip.  Here are just a few of the many things you can do in and near Charlotte, North Carolina. 

The Charlotte Museum of History is located in the metropolitan area and is a great place to visit, especially for history buffs. All of the questions you have about Charlotte will likely be answered here. There are also exhibits about the people from Charlotte, objects that are instrumental in Charlotte’s history and stories about the various buildings in the area.

The Hearst Tower is also a nice place to see. It is located downtown and will be extremely hard to miss, as it is 46-floor skyscraper that stretches upward to the blue sky.

Charlotte also offers a host of parks and gardens that are ideal for vacationers wanting to basically relax and communicate with nature.  Those that want to test their biking skills can head on to the Beech Spring Mountain Bike Park, which features a looping biking trail stretching for 5 miles. Bird watching is also a fun activity and can be done at the Carolina Raptor Center.

The center is a home for many exotic birds in the US including hawks, eagles, vultures, falcons and eagles. For those that want to see less-wild birds should troop to the Wing Haven Garden ad Bird Sanctuary, which also boasts of formal gardens and small woodland.

A nice stroll in the park can be perfectly done at the Latta Plantation Plane, which is just 12 miles Northeast of Charlotte. The plant s biggest park in the area and is the sanctuary of may different species and spans for 2,500 acres. Visitors can rent horses for an enjoyable ride across the plant’s vast plant area and trail goes as long as 7 miles.

Of course a vacation will not be complete if you do not check out the local restaurants to test the best dishes in Charlotte. Saigon Café located on John J Delaney drive features three dining areas. The specialty of the house is tender eggplants cooked in toasted pine nuts and goat’s cheese. In addition, customers can also order favorites chicken coconut curry and spicy peanut sauce. Another popular restaurant in the county is Otto’s Knife and Fork located at North Sharon Amity Rd. This place is known for its 70’s retro vibe and serves delicious salads and huge sandwiches. In addition, Otto’s dinner menu constantly changes depending on what ingredients are served freshest during the day.

For a great night out Charlotte also boasts of numerous bars and clubs. Popular to music enthusiasts is the Have a Nice Day Café, which is primarily a dance club but is also a venue for local live bands. Tourists are also known for trooping to Dixie’s Tavern. Those into Rave and Techno normally go to Mythos to quench their thirst for alternative dance music.

Whatever your choices are, Charlotte will likely fill your needs for a good time. Just make sure to map out your schedules in order to make the most out of your visit in this beautiful county. Charlotte is truly a great place to visit and be seen in.
