Need a “Break” without Leaving the Animal Kingdom? Try These Attractions… (Disney World Tips – 62 of 365)

Sleepy Hippos

Disney World, and Florida in general can get really hot. Combine that with long days, running around everywhere, and not enough sleep, and everyone can get tired and cranky.

Unless you’re a little kid in a stroller, you can’t take a nap while at that parks unless you’re one of the hippos or other animals in Animal Kingdom.

While you can always go back to your hotel – especially if you’re staying on property, sometimes that’s just too much work and time. Especially since between adding up the time to walk to the front of a park, waiting for a bus, the bus ride, and then walking to your room adds up a chunk of time. Then you have the time for the nap itself, plus the trek back to the park.

So what’s the second best option? Well, in each park there are at least a few rides/places that you can sit, and relax at least somewhat comfortably. While you can’t really sleep, it can go a long way in giving you some energy back!

Here are some places to go and relax the Animal Kingdom. I’m not counting restaurants, although that’s also a great place to relax and recharge while you eat:

  • Festival of the Lion King – It’s a half hour show, and while not a place to just “relax”, it’s air conditioned, and a lot of fun! It’s a good place to recharge for a while.
  • Finding Nemo – The Musical – This show is also a half hour, and it’s a nice dark air conditioned place to relax.
  • Kilimanjaro Safari – At a little over 18 minutes, this is a great place to sit down and animal watch. If you’re looking to cool down though, this isn’t the answer, as you’re on a “safari” vehicle with not a lot of covering. It’s a great place to relax though.
